Ever wonder why so many French drink wine? Could it be simply because it's cheaper than beer?!?!? You can easily buy a bottle of wine at grocery stores and wine shops for 2-3 euros.
A very popular wine shop in France is called Nicolas. It's a franchise with locations all over France carrying a variety of wines. I enjoy choosing a wine from their "Vin de Pays" collection (picture in this post) where all of them are under 3 euros. These wines are from a collaboration of vineyards found throughout the various regions in France. And they're good, very good!
Same applies when dining out, you can get their house wine; a glass for 2-3 euros or a half pitcher at 4-5 euros or a pitcher starting off around 6-8 euros range. Or you can get a bottle for about 8 euros.
Wherever you are in France, inexpensive but TASTY wine can be found.
